課程概述

1. Introduction to Risk Assessment
Framework and methodology of risk assessment
2. Principles of Toxicology
3. Exposure and Disposition of Toxicants
Routes of exposure, absorption, transport, distribution in the body, tissue uptake, target organs, compartmentalization, excretion, kinetics.
4. Metabolism of Toxicants
Phase I reactions; Phase II reactions: conjugation, synthesis; species differences, cross-species extrapolation, detoxication and activation.
5. Principles of Systemic Toxicology
Dose-response concepts, receptor theory
6. Chemical Carcinogenesis and Mutagenesis
Active intermediate, DNA adducts, initiation, promotion, progression, Bioassays.
7. Toxicology of Major Systems and Organs (group presentation)
Nervous, renal, and hematopoietic systems; liver and respiratory systems.
8. Toxic Effects of Specific Environmental Agents (group presentation)
Metals, pesticides, solvent and vapor; POPs, ECDs.
9. Physiologically-based Pharmacokinetic Modeling
10. Principles of Ecotoxicology
11. Hazard Identification
12. Release Assessment of Chemicals
13. Hazardous Waste and Toxics Management
